Øivind Slaatto's diatonic pendant

The Patera by Øivind Slaatto (2015) is a luminous sphere built from 504 individual cells arranged in a Fibonacci-derived pattern. From every angle the bulb is hidden behind the diatonic grid — the result is a glowing globe that emits soft, glare-free, all-around light without revealing its source.

Light concept
Each of the 504 cells filters direct light and creates dappled, even illumination. The opal interior softens the LED source further.

Materials

• Shade: Matt white-coated aluminium, laser-cut and folded.
