Eight shades, one perfect sphere

Poul Henningsen presented the Snowball in 1958 as the most logical extension of his three-shade principle: rather than three reflectors, why not eight? The eight-shade construction creates the appearance of a luminous sphere while controlling glare even more tightly than his earlier work.

Light concept
Eight precisely curved shades create a perfectly diffused, glare-free light cone. The outer dimensions appear spherical from every angle.

Materials

• Outer shade: Wet-painted White, Dusty Blue, Dusty Green or Soft White, with high-lustre chrome or polished brass metallisation.
• Inner side: Wet-painted white.
